Robotic-Assisted Knee and Hip Replacement Surgery
Frye Regional Medical Center is pleased to offer robotic-assisted knee and hip surgery, which allows for customization to the unique shape and motion of your knee or hip. This innovative technology can increase the amount of healthy bone and ligament that is spared surrounding the joint, which improves post-operative mobility and comfort.
What are the benefits of robotic-assisted technology for the patient?
- Often have smaller incisions
- Often experience faster recovery
- Optimal implant placement for potentially more comfort
- Potentially reduced impact to surrounding tissue
As a result, patients may be able to get back to life faster without an extended recovery period.
How does it work?
Using a 3D image, the surgeon can see and measure the actual dimensions of the patient’s joint and surrounding tissue. The surgeon then programs a surgical plan directly into the robotic technology, working through procedural adjustments, considerations and alterations in a virtual setting before any incision is made. During surgery, the surgeon guides the robotic-arm through this pre-defined program with full control to make adjustments, as needed.
Every knee or hip is unique. If you have tried nonsurgical treatments and your pain continues, joint replacement may be necessary to reduce pain and restore functioning. For robotic-assisted joint replacement, make an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon who is specially trained to perform the procedures.
