Board-certified Orthopedic Surgeon to provide orthopedic primary care in Hickory
HICKORY, NC (February 20, 2025) – FryeCare Physicians Network recently welcomed William Ward, MD, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, to his new medical practice at FryeCare Orthopedics & Neurosurgery, located at 1771 Tate Blvd SE, Suite 101 in Hickory. Dr. Ward specializes in orthopedic oncology, bone and soft tissue tumors, complex and robotic bone and joint reconstruction including total hips and knees, and customized bone and joint replacement.
Dr. Ward’s specialization in orthopedic oncology is unique to the area and is a new addition to FryeCare Orthopedics and Neurosurgery’s services.
Dr. Ward earned his medical degree from Duke University in Durham, NC. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Duke University in Durham, NC and his orthopedic sports medicine fellowship training at Clevland Clinic in Cleveland, OH. He also received his Orthopedic Oncology fellowship training at UCLA in Los Angeles, California.
“There is tremendous joy in relieving a patient’s pain, saving their limb and/or saving their life” said Dr. Ward. “I have made a career treating difficult problems, including cancers that involve bones and soft tissues. I strive to provide the best care I can for each patient, fulfilling their needs after an appropriate evaluation of the problem.”
Dr. Ward was also born and raised in Lincolnton, NC.
“As a former professor of orthopedic surgery and as an author of many scientific publications and book chapters, I have been blessed with opportunities to teach, travel and learn all over the world. I am excited to share these lessons within the communities where I grew up,” said Dr. Ward. “After all this experience, you might say, I’m coming home!”
