Frye Regional Medical Center Introduces New Cold Therapy Treatment for Knee Pain Relief
January 15, 2025
Frye Regional Medical Center, a Duke LifePoint hospital, is excited to announce a new innovative cold therapy treatment designed to reduce knee pain. This clinically proven, non-opioid, pain management solution uses the body’s natural response to cold to reduce pain, providing patients with a safe and effective solution for managing knee pain.
This innovative cold therapy procedure works by temporarily shutting down some of the nerves responsible for pain around the knee due to various knee problems. This treatment is minimally invasive, similar to an injection and is particularly beneficial for patients who are unable to undergo surgery or those looking to reduce pain after knee surgery. This new treatment option also supports ongoing efforts to reduce opioid use in our community.
Dr. Michael Seel, an orthopedic surgeon with Frye Regional Medical Center said, “We are excited to add this new treatment option as part of our pain management program, helping make joint replacement surgery as comfortable as possible.”
“I am excited that we are able to offer this safe and innovative pain relief treatment to patients who live in our community,” said Dr. Philip Greene, chief executive officer of Frye Regional Medical Center. He shared that adding this treatment “allows us to promote good health to the patients we care for and advance our mission of making communities healthier.”
