Frye Regional Medical Center Honored for Innovation

Award celebrates hospital’s use of technology to advance patient care and quality

HICKORY, NC (February 27, 2025) – Frye Regional Medical Center was honored by Lifepoint Health with the organization’s Innovation Award at an annual awards ceremony held in Nashville, Tennessee, on Feb. 11. The award recognizes a deserving hospital that has leveraged technology and innovation to advance patient care.

Frye earned Lifepoint’s Innovation Award for the many ways its team seeks to improve how the hospital operates, delivers care and advances its mission of making communities healthier through technology, which include:

• Being an early adopter and continuing to advocate for a new operating room schedule optimization and throughput solutions that have improved patient flow, staffing needs and enabled the hospital to see and treat more patients.
• The launch and implementation of Cadence, a remote patient monitoring service for heart failure patients that has helped achieve higher patient satisfaction scores and improved quality measures.
• Serving as an alpha site for Kouper, a technology that follows up with patients after being discharged from the ER and as a pilot site for Telesitting, a virtual care platform used to enhance patient safety and optimize staffing.

The award was presented to the Frye Regional leadership team including Chief Executive Officer Philip Greene, MD; Chief Nursing Officer Bridget Denzik, DNP, MSN, RN, NEA-BC; Assistant Chief Nursing Officer Rebekah Artman, MBA, BSN, RN, CCRN, CPPS; Chief Medical Officer Michael Cratty, MD; and Chief Financial Officer John Bostwick.
