X-Ray
X-rays are a form of invisible, electromagnetic radiation used to produce images of internal tissues, bones and organs of the human body. X-rays pass painlessly through body structures onto an imaging detector/receptor. Frye Regional uses only direct digital x-ray technology, to ensure the radiation dose to our patients is as low as possible and that image quality is consistently very high. Through advanced computer processing, the information is converted to diagnostic images that are interpreted by radiologists (physicians who specialize in medical imaging).
X-ray examinations are performed for many reasons, including assisting in the diagnosing of lung and abdominal/ gastrointestinal disease, and spine and bone/ joint injuries or disease.
Examinations performed by a radiologist rather than a technologist, such as fluoroscopic exams, biopsies, arthrograms and myelograms are provided on a scheduled or as-needed basis.
